The Definition of a Stage Manager

On the second day of instruction student are greeted with the instructions below printed out and placed on a box of supplies. What follows is the great bagel experiment where students have to work together to solve the problem. What emerges, EVERY time is one leader. One person who takes charge and makes things happen generally in an organized and efficient manner. This is the stage manager. What follows in an insightful conversation about the necessity of the SM, qualities a good SM must have, and dialogue about what happens when an SM is not present.
