The Rehearsal Scene Breakdown - An Exercise in Logistics
Although the LSAT is not required to become a stage manager, maybe it should be because stage managers require competency in logistics. Whereas stage management logistics does not necessarily include toilet paper and bullets it does include actors working two jobs, rehearsal spaces with limited availability and/or props that have to break in scene 2A and be revived in scene 4.5B. The stage manager can figure it out! One of the starting points for organizing the production is the rehearsal scene breakdown. The playwright provides a script, the SM provides who needs to be called for what scene. A great introductory lesson for aspiring stage managers is to create their very own rehearsal scene breakdown.
